clown fish help!

Postby randallftan on Sat Mar 03, 2012 11:24 pm

okay so i just bought some coral and started to poxy them. the poxy made the tank very cloudy so i stopped. since then my clown fish have been rather weak. sleeping on the sand and one got sucked into the nano waver and i had to save it. dont have a testing kit with me atm so i cant tell u the levels of amonia nitrate etc etc. heard clown fish are rather hardy fish but im kinda scared atm that they wont make it. anyone experienced the same things?

What poxy are you using? I haven't heard of any reef safe epoxy making your water cloudy unless it was handled under water. Run some carbon and perform a water change. That's the first thing I would do.

its DD poxy. yea i pressed down on the poxy and purple stuff would come out from the poxy. by running some carbon u mean a carbon filter. one clown is currently lying on the sand and the other is hiding behind a rock. could this be because i am adding too much coral into the tank. about 12 frags.

Epoxy should be mixed outside the water thoroughly then it can be handled under water.

Yes. I would run a carbon reactor or filter if you have one and keep a skimmer running.

I don't think your corals caused it.

I mixed it outside. Thoroughly. When I put it under water it would make the water purple and cloudy. I think its the poxy if anything. Its only a 6 gal nano. The corals seem to be okay tho.

I've used that in my tank before and have NEVER seen anything like this. You can always do a big water change. But in nanos make sure the water your putting back in is around the same temp. Also try coral glue. It works better and you don't see it as much. Its like the superglue for fish tanks.
