Free 180 RR tank/stand/canopy

Free 180 RR tank/stand/canopy

Postby tstaut on Fri Mar 28, 2008 5:50 pm

Oh man, I can’t believe I’m doing this but….

Image

Here’s the background. I bought this 180, stand and canopy a few years ago and sanded down/refinished the whole thing, then set it up. Lost all my corals due to a soap incident while I was on my honeymoon over 3 years ago.

Since then, it has housed a bunch of live rock, 3 fish, and rufus, our long-spined urchin. And lots of algae.

Now, I am recovering from back surgery and the plastic tub I had for a sump is leaking. I can’t fix it, and the wife wants new floors soon… so it’s got to go.

Now here’s the deal.

1. It’s free. This includes the tank, stand, canopy, leaking plastic sump if you want it. Does not include the skimmer, lights, or small equipment like heater, pumps/powerheads.

2. It does include all the livestock – over 100lb. of live rock, 1 coral beauty, 1 clarkii (I think) clown, one yellow-tailed damsel.

3. It’s not perfect. The canopy front needs to be nailed back together, it’s loose. Once of the cabinet doors had the screws stripped out. And finally, there is water damage in the bottom of the stand (see sump leaking above). I believe all of these can be fixed rather easily.

4. As it’s of significant value yet free, I have some expectations:

- I am recovering from back surgery. Can’t lift, can’t clean, can’t drain. You’re going to have to do it all. Bring at least 4 men of average strength or the equivalent, and a truck. I live in The Colony.

- You have to take it all. I have nowhere for the livestock or anything else… if you take the tank, you take the rock, the sand, the LR, etc.

- You absolutely MUST PROMISE to provide a good home for Rufus the urchin. He has been with us since he hitchhiked in on the LR 5 years ago, and is like a pet to us. He’s a great urchin, and as you’ll see, we have no problem keeping coralline algae.

- First one to accept all of these and schedule a time to pick up this weekend wins. If that person doesn't show up I'll move down the list. I will return any messages in the order received. To keep it simple, please send me a private message here. No emails/phone calls. PM me your phone number and I will call back or send you a message if you were too late.

More pics: (remember, it’s nowhere near this clean now…)

Finally, I haven't been active in a while but some members on here can vouch for me I'm sure. Marc, for starters.

Thanks for all the responses.... wow free stuff is easy to get rid of! LOL.

The line is now 7 people deep. If you want to be added, you can PM me, but it's pretty unlikely all 7 people will fall through.

I hate to see your giving your tank away. I would be glad to come over and help out with your leaking sump.

I appreciate that very much, Evan, but it's just time. I'll be replacing it with something smaller and more manageable down the road.

I see not much has changed around here, can't even give something away without somebody finding a reason to complain.

Anyway, the tank is gone. Thanks to those who responded.

LMAO...we know you'll miss all of this...come back when you get your smaller set-up running. And best of luck with your back - no fun at all.

It is truly ridicules some of the comments people make. I am learning to stay off this forum for all the hostillity it has. The rich comment was wierd. He is having back surgery and he can't keep up his tank. Where did you get rich from. I feel for you, last nov i shattered two of my discs and had to do it to. Best of luck
