how to plug bulkhead holes in tank

Postby Carabelli on Sat Jun 09, 2007 1:05 pm

okay, i have 4 holes in my 75 gallon tank i am seting up, they have bulkheads in them, and i guess i could put a cap in the bulkhead to fill the hole, but, i will not be using these holes ever - can i take a piece of acrylic and silicone it over the holes so i don't have to worry about a leak? or, do i need to use glass??

also, can i just use the silicone from home depot?

thanks.

You need to use glass. Silicone won't adhere to acrylic like it does glass.
I have had no issues using the "GE Silicone I" from Home Depot.

yeah, and I know this is probably obvious, but silicone the glass over the hole on the inside, the added pressure from the water will reinforce the seal.
