DFWAS's longest member!

I just went through my old DFWMAS membership list from when we first started. You'll be pleased to know that current member Chris Curtis was member number 3, which I believe is now the oldest active member! Congrats Chris for your dedication the past 13 years!

Are you going to attend MACNA this week? It would be nice to talk face to face about the history of the club.

Chris, way to go!

Yeah, I was wondering where my fishy was so I checked my membership card and it was like 4 months past due.

But what happened to my previous post in this thread? I was sure I had posted something but then they do say that memory is the first thing to go.

Just a note..

When I first joined the club I met Chris at one of the meetings. He was always willing to talk and once referred back to a previous event that the club hosted and added that it was 10yrs ago! I couldn't believe he had been in the hobby that long and now there's proof :) . Congratulations to you for hanging in there through the good times and bad!
I''m back in the soft coral club!

Unfortunatly (or fortunately) I own a ice hockey pro shop and we are in the busiest time of the season right now, 80 hr weeks, etc. No way I could leave to go to MACNA, But someday we'll get a chance to discuss history in much more detail. I've been digging thru boxes in the cellar and looking at old floppy directories to try to come up with whatever I can. I do know Chris was at the very first meeting, and virtually every one after that. I'm sure he also remembers when we had Al Theil as a speaker. Over 200 DFW enthusiest turned out. Also if I recall Chris won quite a few of the raffles we had at every meeting. We gave away a lot of good stuff donated by the various manufacturers, Theil, Kent Marine, Marineland were all big supporters.

Chris is still a paid club member, though he has not been heard from in awhile.

I would suggest that we contact him and present an award at one of the meetings...
